Library, Books, & Research Resources
Library Information
RPUS does not currently have a working library but nevertheless believes in the importance of establishing one. Until then, students are encouraged to borrow books from other places.
- Partner Libraries
For theological research, students may access books from three partner libraries. To do so, they must obtain an RPUS-issued library card and receive instructions from the Dean of Academic Affairs. Entry to these partner libraries is not permitted without this card. RPUS has established Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with each institution, enabling students to borrow materials in accordance with the libraries’ policies and the terms specified in the MoUs.
- International Theological Seminary, 540 E. Vine Ave., West Covina, CA 91790
- Grace Mission University, 1645 W. Valencia, Fullerton, CA 92833
- World Mission University, 500 Shatto Pl., Los Angeles, CA 90020.
- Public Libraries
Local students are encouraged to explore the many library resources available throughout Southern California. California residents may obtain free library cards from the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), and Los Angeles residents also receive free access to LAPL’s extensive online resources. Through this system, students can access theological books and, importantly, JSTOR for academic journal articles. Library cards can be obtained online or in person at any LAPL branch. Students may schedule an appointment with the Dean of Academic Affairs for additional guidance.
- Mark Twain Branch Library
The nearest LAPL branch to RPUS is the Mark Twain Branch Library, located at 9621 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90003. It’s a small library but you can order books and access academic journals and articles.
- Richard J. Riordan Central Library
Students may also visit the Richard J. Riordan Central Library (LA Central Library), located at 630 W. 5th St., Los Angeles, CA 90071, which offers an exceptional collection of theological, historical, and biblical resources for a public library.
- Alma Mater Libraries
Alumni often retain borrowing privileges through their undergraduate institutions. Master’s students are encouraged to check with their alma mater for details, typically available online.
- Other Libraries Access for Pay
Students may also borrow books from other university libraries at their own expense. For example, members of the public may purchase borrowing cards from institutions such as the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Azusa Pacific University (APU). Students may meet with the Dean of Academic Affairs for further information.
